Pete O'Connor Jr Rubicon's 2007 LIVESTRONG Representative

At 24-years old, Peter has been through more than most people go through in a lifetime. After graduating from Central catholic high school in 2001 he took off to new york for school, lived in costa rica, travelled europe, spent time in los angeles, flagstaff and eventually returned to the great northwest a few years back.
after some time home a pain in his lower back would not go away. what was assumed to be a pinched nerve or a slipped disk was anything but....it was a tumor. after a long year of pain and suffering and endless nights of restlessness and distress an mri showed that he had a tumor and was later diagnosed with cancer.
After 8 months of chemo peter continued to livestrong and move forward. although his back pain has diminished and he feels great, his disease is not completely dead and he is about to go through a bone marrow transplant. to have him ride for rubicon means a lot and this is his last big venture before he saddles up for the most difficult and important months of his life...
Here's a message from Pete on Pete -
My name is Peter O'Connor Jr. and I love life. I love everyday and I hope I get to enjoy as many days as I can before I endure this bone marrow transplant. It is going to be a long haul but once I tackle this son-of-a-bitch I hope to enjoy many more beautiful days without the worry of a disease lingering inside of me.
My friends and family mean the world to me and without them I would not be here today. If I do not make it through this or giveup I would not only be letting myself down but all of those I am surrounded by. Team Rubicon has been one of the greatest supporters and have never had a doubt in their mind about my health and progress. It is incredibly special to be able to enjoy this opportunity with them and the LAF just weeks, possibly days before I head into my next batch of chemo....it is the memories that help get me through the tough times.
