Carlsen wins Tabor

55th Annual Mt. Tabor Circuit Race -
The course is a 1.3 mile, hilly circuit race that has 137 feet of climbing per lap; now times that by 30 laps and you have a tough race (4110 feet of climbing)! Rubicon sent 3 of it’s roadies to this event – Aaron Tuckerman, Kirk Carlsen and Logan Hunn. Also in attendance from the pro side of things was Doug Ollerenshaw of Healthnet, Evan Elken of Jittery Joes and Chad Hartley of BMC. Aaron was the first to get things started with a wicked attack on the first lap putting 30 seconds on the field. After about 8 laps, Doug Ollerenshaw had enough of that and launched his own attack catching Tuckerman, but the field brought everything back and as soon as they did, Kirk Carlsen was off the front. Even Elken and a few others brought Kirk back, then it was Logan’s turn, and off the front he went. A couple of laps later a hard charging field caught Logan and again Aaron flew off the front, again the field brought Aaron back. With about 7 laps to go, a couple of guys road off the front, Kirk attacked the bunch and bridged up to the pair who had about a 10 second lead on the bunch. With Kirk driving the break, one rider was dropped and it was Kirk and Luke Pennington up by 20 seconds, Luke couldn’t hold Kirk’s pace and Kirk pushed his lead out to 30 seconds. With 3 laps remaining, Even Elken and Roger Stevens launched an attack to try and bring Kirk back and they where up about 15 seconds on the bunch but they never caught Kirk. Kirk soloed in for the win! Aaron took 8th.
