Dean Tracy scores first 2 medals at US Nationals
Today was the start of US National Track Champs. Schedule went like this 10:00 am men's pursuits, women's pursuits, scratch race heats (3) and new US National event the 250 standing start. I went for a 1.5 ride before heading over to the track thinking I would just get there in time to watch the scratch races, nope, it took 3.5 hours to finish all the dang pursuits!
Steven was first up, heat one, 40 laps, 8 go through to the finals. Steven spent most of the time mid field to the back of the pack, with 2 laps to go Steven moved up to the front and took 2nd - Nice work Steven. He will be facing the TIAA-CREF train tonight - Danny Pate, Mike Creed and company.
2 more scratch race heats to go through, then it was Dean's turn. Dean rode in the 4th heat of the new National event - the 250 standing start. Dean set the time to beat at 19.2 seconds; this stood until the SPIKE team hit the track and their $10,000 bikes with double disc wheels. In the end Dean took 4th over all and 3rd in the U23 division. He will be awarded his medals in tonight's session that starts at 7pm.
Tonights schedule is as follows:
- Kierin heats
- Pursuit finals
- Scratch Race final
- Keirin Final
Steven races the scratch race final and Dean will be up in the kierin heat and finals.
Next update tomorrow morning . . .I caught the "team cold" and won't be staying up late tonight.
