Team Rubicon Press Release for Sea Otter
Team Rubicon, a Portland Oregon based team, will be in full force at this year's Sea Otter NRC event. The boys in Orange, who have been known for their astute racing—and who are also greatly recognized for their continual support of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and all those who have been affected by cancer—will be departing from their customary Orange jerseys at Sea Otter. Instead Rubicon will be wearing yellow . . . LIVESTRONG Yellow.
"This is a huge honor to wear the LIVESTRONG Challenge jersey at such a prestigious event as Sea Otter" says team director Norrene Godfrey. To quote Lance Armstrong "It's not about the bike" but instead it's the journey that every individual has to face in life.
It's time to stand up and make a difference. We want to help get the message out: cancer can be beaten; it just takes an army—a LIVESTRONG army—to do it.
Rubicon is a young team, a team that is mostly made up of 19 – 23 year olds athletes from the US, New Zealand and Australia, who are not afraid to take on the 31 laps of the Laguna Seca Raceway and the 5,100 feet of climbing. And just like everyone who has dealt with cancer, who has looked inside, who has found the courage and strength to meet their challenge head on, we will tackle this race with the same fierce determination.
This is what Team Rubicon intends to do Saturday April 14th at the Pro NRC circuit race. . . .To race hard, to fight and to send a message—a LIVESTRONG message—to all those individuals out there that are currently facing, or have faced, their own private battle. We support you. We are asking for spectators to come watch the race, come cheer on the team and please, wear yellow, LIVESTRONG yellow, together we can make a difference, send a message, a message of overcoming and hope.
Team Rubicon will also be handing out the yellow LIVESTRONG
wristbands. Please, share your stories with the team, as most of the members of Team Rubicon have had loved ones directly effected by cancer.
