Who knew Cindrella wore cycling shoes!
After the time trial the team was sitting in 2nd place behind Healthnet. Today’s stage was all or nothing. I don’t have much information but what I do have, it all happened with in the last 15 miles of the race – Logan and Kirk spent a lot of time in the wind shielding Aaron from it and making sure he was up front with the top GC guys. The last 10 miles were smoking fast as Toyota United, Healthnet and Jelly Belly put the pressure on. Speeds where clocking in over 30 mph on the flat spots just before hitting the base of Mt. Nebo.
Kirk again, puts it all on the line for Aaron, just as he did yesterday in the criterium. Kirk gave it everything to get Aaron up into 5th spot at the base of Mt. Nebo, from that point on, it was all up to Aaron to climb with the likes of Bajadali and Baldwin . . .and he did just that. Bajadali came across the line first, followed by Baldwin and few others and Aaron came in 6th. That was enought to place Aaron and Team Rubicon in 3rd place over all.
Awesome, awesome ride by this very young team, especial when you stop and think, Rubicon was down two riders and only rollling with 5 guys. Brad was unable to start due to being sick and Richard was out after stage two with a back injury.
More info and stories when the guys roll back into p-town on Monday.
