Oregon District Team Time Trial

After the district road race the guys in yellow went to Corvallis to race the Oregon district team time trial championships. Most people didn’t race both the district road race and team time trial, but for the Land Rover-ORBEA guys, it was all prep work for the Philly International Championships held a week later. Land Rover-ORBEA sent two teams, Land Rover-ORBEA –team Kiwi and Land Rover-ORBEA –team USA, we wanted to have a bit of fun and it seemed like the perfect split in both ability and nationality. . . And after consulting with Evan Elken, Senior rider and the team’s road manager, Evan was quoted in saying “let the kids beat each other up, I’m going to spend time with my fiancée.”

Team Kiwi-
  • Mike Northey
  • Roman van Uden
  • Aaron Tuckerman
  • Logan Hunn

Team USA -
  • Bobby Sweeting
  • Jim Camut
  • Carson Miller
  • Josh Bartlett

As the teams lined up, it was Team USA to chase after Team Kiwi . . . As the Kiwis left the start line,  Team USA ready themselves, then they left the start line in pursuit, not more than 10 pedal strokes into the start, Bobby’s front derailleur slipped into his chain ring and it was game over for Bobby. That left the USA team with three –tough day in the office for Jim, Carson and Josh.

As I pedaled around trying to get good photos of both teams, I over heard people talking about the smoothness in which Team Kiwi rode and the effortlessness in their exchanges –cool, people do notice the guys and all the hard work they put into preparation, making things look easy.

When it was all said and done,  Midtown Direct/Hutch's-OIC squad took first with a time of 56 minutes, 40 seconds, Team Kiwi took second at 56 minutes, 51 seconds and team USA took 6th at 59 minutes and eight seconds.

A great job was done by all!
