Session 3 the running of the bulls
Where to begin, I’m still getting deals on what happened last night session.
Lets start with the running of the bulls, or at least that’s what I call the kierin event as you have 200 plus guy going hell fast on carbon everything, then add to the mix Dean Tracy; I think he weights about 160 soaking wet.
First ride, Dean rode a conservative race and paid for it by placing third, top two go through. His second ride was much better, as it was a do or die situation and as luck would have it, he was racing guys that he had beaten before. Stephen Mclaughry got the jump on Dean, but Dean closed the gap and coming out of corner three, Mclaughry threw a little hook, which was enough to slow Dean down and McLaughry beat Dean by half a wheel. DAMN, I thought for sure Dean would make it into the finals so I went back to the hotel to go to bed, but that turned out to be the wrong decision.
Dean Tracy scores first 2 medals at US Nationals
Today was the start of US National Track Champs. Schedule went like this 10:00 am men's pursuits, women's pursuits, scratch race heats (3) and new US National event the 250 standing start. I went for a 1.5 ride before heading over to the track thinking I would just get there in time to watch the scratch races, nope, it took 3.5 hours to finish all the dang pursuits!
US Track Champs Day 1
Sunday October 1, 06 Actually today is day 2 in Carson Ca (just outside of LA). Drove 15 hours to get here, Captain Drew was at the wheel, the man drove 11 out of the 15 hours. One rainstorm and 3 pee stops and we showed up at the hotel at 8pm Sunday night. Dean rode the rollers, me, I went to sleep, my 4 hours of driving wore me out.
